On Sunday evening,
February 24, 2008 the Wolfe Street Foundation with
Channel 7 KATV-ABC© and Comcast©
joined in the excitement of the Academy Awards by
hosting an Oscar Night® America 80th
Academy Awards® Ceremony Viewing Gala at the
Chenal Country Club, Little Rock, Arkansas. All
proceeds benefited the Wolfe Street Foundation (WSF).
We are grateful to
all who made this year’s event so successful with a 45%
increase in profit over 2007.
We are honored that the
Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences designated
our event as the only official Oscar Night®
America gala in Arkansas. The evening’s activities
started with the Sponsor VIP Party and Silent Auction.
Guests received star treatment walking the red carpet
with interviews and photographs, the official Academy
Awards® Program, a formal photo and dinner inspired by
Wolfgang Puck. We were honored to have Ray McKinnon join
us in making the Gala a special night. Ray, along with
his talented wife, Lisa Blount,a native Arkansan, won a
2002 Oscar Award for The Accountant.
Ginger White won the $3,000 Alwand Vahan Diamond
Bracelet donated by Jones & Son Fine Jewelry. The
results of the “Predict-the-Winners” contest were Rick
Anderson -1st Place, Leon Tidwell - 2nd
Place, and Sandra Martasia – 3rd Place.
Prizes awarded throughout the evening included Mike
Moore and Christy Holeman as Best Dressed Couple, Mike
Coulson as Best Dressed Male, Greta Wright for Best
Dressed Female, and Christian Gwatney, a Look-a-like of
Reese Witherspoon. It was a fun and exciting evening for
all!

The Wolfe Street Foundation owns and operates the Wolfe
Street Center; a meeting place for recovering
alcoholics, their families and loved ones affected by
alcoholism. The Center, open 365 days a year sixteen
hours a day has over 100,000 visitors each year
attending meetings, events and outreach programs. WSF
is funded 100% through private contributions and
proceeds from fundraisers such as the Oscar Night®
America Gala.
