On Sunday evening, February 24, 2008 the Wolfe Street Foundation with Channel 7 KATV-ABC© and Comcast© joined in the excitement of the Academy Awards by hosting an Oscar Night®  America 80th Academy Awards® Ceremony Viewing Gala at the Chenal Country Club, Little Rock, Arkansas.  All proceeds benefited the Wolfe Street Foundation (WSF).   We are grateful to all who made this year’s event so successful with a 45% increase in profit over 2007.

We are honored that the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences designated our event as the only official Oscar Night® America gala in Arkansas. The evening’s activities started with the Sponsor VIP Party and Silent Auction. Guests received star treatment walking the red carpet with interviews and photographs, the official Academy Awards® Program, a formal photo and dinner inspired by Wolfgang Puck. We were honored to have Ray McKinnon join us in making the Gala a special night.  Ray, along with his talented wife, Lisa Blount,a native Arkansan, won a 2002 Oscar Award for The Accountant. Ginger White won the $3,000 Alwand Vahan Diamond Bracelet donated by Jones & Son Fine Jewelry.  The results of the “Predict-the-Winners” contest were Rick Anderson -1st Place, Leon Tidwell - 2nd Place, and Sandra Martasia – 3rd Place.  Prizes awarded throughout the evening included Mike Moore and Christy Holeman as Best Dressed Couple, Mike Coulson as Best Dressed Male, Greta Wright for Best Dressed Female, and Christian Gwatney, a Look-a-like of Reese Witherspoon. It was a fun and exciting evening for all!

We thank our generous sponsors of the event:  J.D. Simpson,III; Chester Phillips; Rick Anderson, Franchise Finance; Friday, Eldredge & Clark; PDC; LR Film Commission; Kathy and Mark McBryde; Kathy Gwatney; Twin City Bank; and The Bridgeway.  We also thank the event donors:  Steve Landers; Jones & Son Fine Jewelry; Comcast; Twin City Printing; Mike Ballard of MLBCreative; Crocus Flowers; Bruce McIntire Interiors; and Thomas Bowden Photography.  Our thanks go to those who donated the wonderful Silent Auction items. A  special thank you goes to the many donors who chose to remain anonymous.
